The working principle of IPL is different from Laser in that the light waves emitted have a wider range of wavelengths.
IPL has been used to treat certain types of skin lesions and to improve the appearance of facial skin in patients. There are many types of IPL machines available today, each created for a different purpose.
– Skin lesions that can be treated with IPL include:
1. Blood vessel lesions such as birthmarks, varicose veins.
2. Lesions caused by skin pigment such as dark birthmarks, freckles, blemishes, etc.
3. Hair plucking
4. Tighten the condition of the facial skin.
5. Acne treatment using certain chemicals such as 5-ALA.
6. Treating raised scars
IPL treatment can be performed on an outpatient basis like a Laser treatment. Generally, the treatment period is 4-6 times, each time taking approximately 20-30 minutes, spaced 3-6 weeks apart.
– Advantages of IPL treatment include:
1. Unlike Laser, the IPL beam does not damage the top layer of the skin.
2. Does not cause wounds
3. Each treatment time is short and the patient can work normally.
– Some side effects of IPL treatment occur but are not severe, such as
1. Pain during treatment
2. In some cases, there may be red skin.
3. Burning pain, which is usually found 2-3 days after treatment.
4. Some people may develop white spots, which will gradually fade on their own.
5. In some cases, the color of the skin may become darker. But it can be prevented by avoiding the sun or using sunscreen.
